Are goodwill payments getting out of hand?
Once a goodwill payment breaks the billion pound mark, can it still be considered a gesture?
This week, Barclays declared that it would repay all customers who had complained about mis-sold PPI before 20 April, with no questions asked, as a “gesture of goodwill”.
